This is a stunning ring with a synthetic color-change alexandrite stone set into 10 carat gold. The superb rectangular stone is an emerald cut faceted corundum 13X17.9MM of an intense amethyst violet of approximately 17.3 carats. I'm advised the stone is a corundum lab grown sapphire created to imitate the color change effect of Alexandrite. The first color-change corundum was lab grown in 1909 as synthetic alexandrite. The color change in this alexandrite synthetic sapphire was violet changing to reddish purple ~ as this stone exhibits ~ this stone has the color of violet amethyst in sunlight with incandescent flashes of blue and rose.
The ring setting has a Deco influenced design and is a lovely rose gold hue and hallmarked 10k.
Dimensions are : the stone is 11/16 inch high (just under 3/4 inch) and is 1/2 inch wide; the ring stands 3/8 inch from the hand; size is US 6 and can be re-sized; weight is 7.4 grams; Condition of the stone is perfect with light wear to the gold commensurate with age.
A superb ring with a wonderful stone of vibrant color ~ stunning on the hand.
