Offering a wonderful Arts & Crafts Movement (1880-1920) sterling silver necklace.
The Arts & Crafts era was a backlash to the mass produced jewelry of the mid-1800’s. The artisans departed from the industrial revolution in Europe, and looked to nature for inspiration of their handcrafted designs.
This necklace features a shield shaped pendant with an open work holly berry leaf design and a central bezel set purple gemstone (likely Amethyst). Attached is what appears to be the original paper clip style chain. The spring ring clasp is probably a replacement… it is marked with a 925 mark. The backside of the pendant is marked “STERLING”.
The length of the necklace is 16 1/2”, and the pendant measures approximately 1 5/8” x 1 1/4” (at widest). The medium purple cabochon stone has some lighter striations and is bezel set. The stone measures approximately 13mm x 9.5mm. Necklace weight is 10+ grams.
Great antique condition. Antique box in photo not included. Will arrive in new box.
