So very attractive these Art Nouveau Cufflinks in Sterling Silver by S. M. Lewis & Co. of New York City. They consist of lozenge shaped plaques with applied and very tactile scroll decorations. The darkened background adds to the dimensionality of the design. The backs and fronts look the same and attach to each other via a horizontal link. One side hooks to a soldered loop and the other to a toggle that moves back and forth. Simple yet so pretty.
Measurements: more than 3/4" long (2 cm) by a scant half-inch wide (11 mm).
Marked: Sterling and S.M.L. & Co. on the link.
Research shows that S.M. Lewis & Co. was in business in New York City during the 1890s.
