TAILLE d' EPERGNE CHATELAINE BROOCH. 14 Karat Gold (unmarked but tested) Chatelaine/Watch Fob Pin/Brooch c1870-1880 with articulated segments giving the brooch great movement. While the Pin is quite stunning by itself, it will hold a locket or watch or may be used as a Chatelaine holding chains with various necessities attached. It is quite a bit larger than most rolled gold watch pins/fobs of the Victorian era.
Taille d' Epergne is an enameling technique in which depressions in the gold are filled with opaque black enamel. See closeup photos.
Brooch measures 1-2/3" long by 1-1/2" wide and 1/2" deep. 7.8 grams
Circa: Late 1800s
