The original item from Fay Wray Antiques is now SOLD.
This is a really nice hand made storage or letter box that was produced by "Wooden Wonder" in the 1960's. The box still had the original hang tag tucked inside, it was priced at $19.95 which was a good deal of money at that time, and amusingly is described as a "little music box" that cannot sing, but can be used for "records, sewing patterns, importing papers, greetings cards, little books" etc. it is very sturdy and a good larger size measuring 12 1/2" wide by 10" tall by 8" wide. The box is constructed of a very strong wood ply or laminate with a Modern Movement hardwood geometric handle on the front embellishing the otherwise minimal lines, the back is hinged with a heavy full length piano hinge, and the top is restrained by a strong chain, it sits on four small feet. Inside the box are sections with sliding dividers, the slots are capacious and the box is attractive and highly functional. When I did a search I could find nothing on the company on the internet, and have never had another one like it, a unique and useful piece.
