For your consideration I offer this scarce Hobbs Brockunier lamp c1880s-1890s. It is an unusual form of a Victorian period opalescent glass oil lamp that is not often seen.

The lamp has a white opalescent coin dot font with a bell shape base base which has a marbleized or slag effect. This glass base is a spattering of subtle coloring from maroon, to rose to white. The base also has molded raised circles or coin dots that compliment the font. They are in the glass on the underside of the base. You can see the the coin dots through the slag coloring if you hold the glass to the light but they are not readily seen in natural light.

This is a large lamp. The lamp size overall to the top of the chimney is about 18 inches tall. The lamp itself is about 9 1/4 inches to the top of the old brass collar. The lamp has the original brass connector joining the font to the base.

The old brass #2 size lip burner is signed "The P&A Mfg. Co." which is the Plume & Atwood Company. The burner is an old flip top style and is fitted with a 2 5/8 inch lip base pearl top chimney. The bottom of the chimney is folded under while the glass was still hot.

The glass of this bell shape base appears to be cased glass with the colored part the bottom layer and a clear glass casing on the outside.
There are the usual bubbles and straw marks in the glass, typical to lamps from this era. I noted one small flat chip on the outside edge of the bottom rim of the foot. It is on the clear glass portion only and very shallow. You can't see it readily, but you can feel it with your finger. This is pretty typical for this type of "slag" glass as it is quite brittle.

I will carefully wrap the lamp and double box. The most economical way to ship to domestic U.S. address is via Parcel Insured. I also offer Priority Mail which is much faster. Please send an email if you have any questions and check
