The original item from The Blue Canary is now SOLD.
A colorful majolica cake stand or tazza dating from circa 1880. It is decorated with green fern fronds and soft turquoise dogwood blossoms with yellow centers on a dark cobalt blue ground circled by a wicker style brilliant yellow border. The foot is decorated in a matching manner. Condition is excellent with a crisp mold, shiny glaze and no chips or cracks. There is fine age crazing plus the usual factory mold and glaze irregularities typical of antique majolica pottery. The unmarked stand has a dark green and brown mottled glaze on the reverse and was most likely produced by a major English maker like Wedgwood or George Jones.
Size approx. 8 1/2" in diameter and 5 1/2" in height.
