The original item from SS Moore Antiques is now SOLD.
This is the complete three volume set of Douglas Southall Freeman's books entitled Lee's Lieutenants published by Scribner's of NY, in the following date order: 1942 for V1, 1943 for V2 and 1944 for V3, assumed first editions. Each volume covers the following: v. 1. Manassas to Malvern Hill - 773 pages, v. 2. Cedar Mountain to Chancellorsville - 760 pages, v. 3. Gettysburg to Appomattox - 862 pages. They are oversized hardcover volumes with beautiful gold gilt lettering on the fronts and spines. Overall condition is very good, with clean, tight pages and strong bindings. Volume 1 has a faint water stain on the top of the pages, noticeable only when the book is closed and looking at the top. It appears the water didn't seep far. There is minor cover wear, mainly on the spine and the pages are free of writing. Volumes 2 & 3 have a few light smudges on the edges of the pages that are only noticeable when the pages are closed tight. Each volume has black and white illustrations, including maps and volume 3 has a fold out map at the back. All volumes have indexes and really are incredible works on the officers who fought under general Robert E. Lee in the Army of Northern Virginia during the Civil War - this set would be a great addition to your library.
These books are oversized and heavy and will ship via Priority Mail Flat Rate with insurance.
