Masterfully photographed large format silver gelatin photo of Broad & Wall Street in October 1908 by photographer Fred A.Schultz. Properly titled; “The Curb Market. Mr. Schultz’s business card is attached to the verso and lists his studio in Washington D.C. and that he has been in business in D.C. 1913.
Schultz captured the endless motion and eclectic vibe of the streets unlike any I have ever seen. In October of 1908 It was a street of iron, granite and tall buildings, out of which interminable caravans and wagons of street vendors trailed them for ever and ever, which never collided. The sidewalks were lined with gentlemen in tailored suits waving stock cards in the air with a melancholy madness. The pungent smell of the Horses being forced to haul cargo beyond their capabilities, suffocated the senses of the real manure being disguised as investments inside the zoo known as Wall Street.
17 x 21 ½ inches.
