A large Georgian sterling silver lidded tankard hallmarked London 1786. Maker Charles Hougham. Tankard was made one year after Hougham became a plate worker (Grimwade, p. 552). Tankard is 8 1/8 inches high, 7 1/8 across; diameter of base is 4 ¾ inches; diameter of opening is 3 7/8 inches. Weight 693 grams.
