The original item from FrenchKissed is now SOLD.
Monsieur E. Rousselet is a bit of a mystery artist. His oil paintings are listed among auction sites (wherein, one source suggested the "E" might be for Etienne, which is French for Steven). From a handful of other postcards I've come across, I've pieced together that he participated in several Salon de Paris exhibitions: 1916, 1917, 1923. He produced several other works of woman using this same style, what I simply call thick crayon strokes, but none of them are dressed in such an elaborate and fantastical style as his Night Bird. This card is unused, printed by Lapina of Paris. Typical antique postcard size: about 3.5 by 5.5 inches. Wear visible on the corners but no creases. There is a small nick on her right cuff and that dark speck on the right is inherent to the printing. In fact, if you look at my other listing, which is now sold, you will see the same dark speck in the exact same place. https://www.rubylane.com/item/274812-8583/Night-Bird-Owl-Lady-Artist-Signed
Also, please note: that listing shows the card sold for $30 -- that's after the discount my customer received as part of my BUY MORE, Save More promotion! I'd like to also explain that I don't use the word "rare" flippantly. It is a strange coincidence in universal laws that one often finds multiples of rare postcards at the same time and then, you could easily search for another year or more and not come across another one. So, I got very lucky when I found these two rare cards, but now, as the saying goes, that's all she wrote. Check that famous auction site, check other postcard sites. This Night Bird is not to be found. She truly is a rare bird:) So, if you like her, nab her now!
