Antique equestrian portrait of Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France, sword in hand, French flag on a stone wall to his right, mounted troops and camp on background, published in 1815 by Richard Evans. A beautiful and hard to find early, antique, original, hand-colored etching. We have seen similar plates described as after Charles James Canton (British, active, nineteenth century), John Romney (Chester, 1786-1863), and Meyron for Napoleonic Wars related publications of the early 1800's.
Inscription on the page reads as follows:
NAPOLEON BONAPARTE, EMPEROR OF FRANCE. London Published May 31 1815 by Richd. Evans Whites Row Spital Fields.
It is printed on laid paper and comes finely matted in a later Regency style frame, ready to display. In very good used condition, trimmed, with early paper light toning, spotting and irregularities as shown. Shipped fully insured with tracking number.
