The original item from Patties RareTiques is now SOLD.
Here is a outstanding piece of Southern American History made in the 1930s-1940s and back then they were also called"Cigar Trunks". It is a great wooden box made by the ROANOKE TOBACCO COMPANY, ROANOKE, VIRGINIA used for drying their production of American made cigars after rolling. The box looks to be constructed of pine wood and it has 10 trays lined with a thin particle board trimmed in pine which are about 1/2" deep. The trays stack on top of each other and the lid can be unlatched and removed to make easier access to the trays. The latches that secure the lid are located on each end of the box. The lid is stamped in black ink "ROANOKE TOBACCO CO ROANOKE VIRGINIA". A great piece of advertising. It is in very good condition with some minor signs of age and wear but no serious damage or repairs. The back looks like it may have had a little water stain at some time as seen in one of our photos. Please look at all our photos as they help with our description. The box was actually used for cigar drying but I can not detect any lingering scent of smoke or tobacco but I want to mention this. This would make a great cabinet for jewelry, small articles, papers, etc. It could be used for many things. Use your imagination. All that would have to be done is add a small screw in knob to each drawer for easy access. The box measures about 16" long by 7" tall by 8" deep.
