Bonjour from the Loire Valley,
Wonderful is the word to begin to describe this antique French planter. This jardiniere planter dates from the late 1800 and is a wonderful majolica impressionist style. The display features large rich flourish decor of roses, flowers, buds, leaves and branches in a realistic form. The colors of this French jardiniere are various in the shades of pink, blue, beige, brown, yellow and green. Both sides are embellished with petals, buds, leaves and stems that have been hand formed with the clay and applied in high relief. The flourish decor is scrolled all over the jardiniere and gives the impression of continuous decor. This beautiful French jardiniere would be perfect to use as a cache pot , center piece or as part of decoration. This is a truly chateau item and would be perfect for any chateau inspiration house. It is in good condition with some minor wear to the petals due to its great age, it is almost unnoticeable because hidden in the decor. There is no crack and still a remarkable piece for its age, note a small shard in the bottom. It is signed in the back with the famous Edouard Gilles mark and numbered 22438 with a large L. This planter is unique as this was hand made.
Measurements 8.66" height / 14.96" max'large. The diameter of the opening collar is 8.46". The diameter of the base is 6.1".
