"Cavalcade of Old Time Comic Strips - book Number One" was edited and compiled by Edward Kutlowski and printed by the Tower Press of Danvers, MA in 1967. In his introduction Edward Kutlowski writes, "We all grew up with the "funnies." We laughed, wept, and became excited over the antics of our favorites. Great humorists created great characters which often outlived them and still go on to this day. Behold then, if only for an instant, those strips which thrilled and delighted millions in their day. Here they are, just as they appeared twenty, thirty and forty years ago! They are a genuine part of American history and as such deserve to be dusted off and inspected periodically".
Comic strips include: Foxy Grandpa by Burny, Jimmy by Swinnerton, Mr Twe Deedle by John Gruelle, Rosie's Beau by George McManus, Little Annie Rooney by Darrell McClure Just Kids by Ad Carter, Gasoline Alley by King, Boob McNutt by Rube Goldberg and Flash Gordon by Alex Raymond to name just a few. In all this over sized magazine (14 3/4" x 11") contains 72 black and white illustrated comic strips. The magazine has blue, black and white illustrated covers and is in good condition. Someone made about a 3" slit in the front cover (using it to cut with an exacto I suppose) which carries into the first three pages. Otherwise the pages are clean and the binding is tight. A fun trip down memory lane with comic strips from our youth. A great gift to share with today's graphic novel loving kids.
