Ida Bisek Prokop (1902 - 1990) Prairie Pictures are highly sought after. Ida was a talented, largely self taught, artist, born in South Dakota and raised in North Dakota. She worked with a variety of mediums including metals, paint and mixed media. Her “Prairie Pictures” were made from local wild flowers, grasses and feathers. A Airbrushed watercolor was painted on to give the picture shadows and dimension and paint on the stenciled graphics of vases, steams and leaves. This picture is signed lower left in pencil, “I Bisek Prokop.” There is one branch that has dropped off and laying below the picture as if a flower dropped on the table under this display. I can not tell if this is intentional or if it really fell as there is airbrushed shadowing around the dropped piece. I do see a very light water stain in the lower right corner. Picture measures 4-1/2 inches wide and 6-1/2 inches tall. The original frame measures 9 inches wide and 11 inches tall. The frame corners have gaps as it was put together by the artist. The back has its original covering but a heavy black tape was applied around the edges. If you would like new back paper I can have it put on free of charge.
