Antique French Sterling Silver Napkin Ring, Ornate Louis XVI or Rococo Pattern, "RR" Monogram
Gorgeous antique French .800 (nearly sterling) silver 2" napkin ring, 80% pure silver with highly ornate Louis XVI or rococo style pattern, floral accents, interlaced "RR" monogram and fabulous condition! The French Minerve or Minerva hallmark, 2nd quality for .800 silver content (the tiny number "2" within the mark designating at least 80% pure silver so just under the .925 standard for "sterling" silver). I don't see a silversmith mark on this one though I could just be missing it in that overly ornate decoration. It dates to the late 1800s surely.
We’ve amassed well over 100 great old mostly French sterling napkin rings over the years and I’m working on them now. They're great mixed & matched around your table, wonderful to find a set of twelve or more matching pieces but who could be so lucky. And, isn't it much neater if all are unique, each with a history...a story of its own! We have rococo style napkin rings, guilloche style machined or engraved napkin rings, French Empire style napkin rings, personalized napkin rings with the original owners’ names on them… Just a massive array of styles and aesthetically unbeatable! Browse and enjoy, they’re all so lovely and sure to add to your fine dining experience (and that of your guests, too)!
Very good to excellent condition. This one weighs a bulky 31 grams, built to last, great condition as you can see from the images. A tiny scuff possible and a bit of tarnish in the recesses. See pictures for measurements.
