The original item from The Curious American is now SOLD.
"Oiline" boot and shoe dressing cardboard cylinder container from Geo. A. Moss, New York, U.S.A. This cardboard container has an applied paper label and tin lid. We do not believe the lid is likely original but its aging indicates it is from the same period and it fits the container remarkably well. The cardboard cylinder has a little flatness on the right side but remains over all in very good condition. The applied paper label has some typical age wrinkling and has darkened over time but the colors remain vivid. The graphic of the living room scene with the lady and dog with shoe is absolutely stunning (see photos). This is a rare and totally beautiful old advertising container that will make itself known in any collection.
Circa: late 1800's , dimensions, 5 3/4" tall x 2 3/4" diameter
