An antique French majolica plate featuring a herd of rabbits in a pastoral setting. Made in France by Hautin and Boulenger potters for Higgins and Seiter of New York. The plate has a crisp mold with fascinating detail in lovely pastel colors.
Measurement: 8-1/2 inches in diameter.
Condition: Very good used condition for its antique age. It does have typical age crazing and an area of one ear of a rabbit that appears to have a glaze pop and another area as photographed which raised and rough under the glaze and obviously occurred before firing. There are NO other chips, cracks, flakes or repairs.
Marks: On reverse stamped Patented Dec. 4th 1900, HIGGINS & SEITER, New York, Made in France and impressed number 28.
