The original item from Lamont Antiques is now SOLD.
Rich walnut console stand with high-quality bronze mounts and skillfully hand carved elements, including a 6 " central scallop shell.
The generously scaled 4" mounts are in the form of a neoclassical female head on raised panels, which are further embellished with bronze foliate designs and terminate in a bronze mount footing. There are four sets of these mounts; two facing forward on the front frieze, and one each facing outward above each of the rear legs. This gives unusual depth and interest to the stand at any angle. The central drawer front has been replaced with a carved panel from a much older piece, and it is possible that the pull dates from a similar vintage and is fashioned by hand.
The top is framed with an ornate hand carved border that is repeated on the upper surface of each of the stretchers. Within the upper frame, rests a dense high-quality glass top with micro bevel, for the option of a fully protected surface. Photographs are without the glass present to avoid glare. Please feel free to contact us for more images.
This is a striking and unique piece in very good antique condition, measuring 35" high, 26 wide, 16 1/2" deep
