This beautifully preserved large antique Qing dynasty Chinese porcelain shard has been made into a stunning belt buckle. This shard depicts a Phoenix in traditional blue and white. It has been set is gold vermeil. It is stamped on the back with a wax stamps showing that the shard is an antique. The buckle is 3 1/2” wide by 2 3/4” long. The belt will accommodated in approximately 1 3/4” belt or scarf. The buckle is in very good condition with no chips in the porcelain.
The phoenix, a mythical bird, is the emblem of the Empress and of beauty. It only appears in time of peace and prosperity. It is believed that a following of smaller birds is always present when the phoenix is flying.
It is symbolic of prosperity, rich harvests, and beauty.
