This hand carved solid rare natural blue jade depicts a dragon and a peach on one side and a dragon and a bat with peaches on the other side. Either side can be worn facing forward. The pendant measures 2’ long by 1 1/2” wide. It drops from a beaded necklace of 10 mm aquamarine that is the same color as jade and resembles jade. The one of kind necklace is 20” around and is finished with a sterling silver clasp. Hand carved jade is getting harder to find as the artisans who carve it are not being replaced as it is a tedious task that requires a lot of creativity.

The dragon is the imperial emblem of the Emperors in China, especially from the from the Han period where their coat of arms shows two dragons fighting for the fiery pearl. The dragon is a supernatural creature and is the symbol of power, strength, wisdom and goodness. It represents the utmost in accomplishment: good luck and a successful life. It is also believed to be the guardian of hidden treasures. It represents the spirit of growth and change.

The bat is symbolic of happiness, good fortune, prosperity and longevity. When something is portrayed upside down it means it has arrived, so the common portrayal of an upside-down bat is symbolic of good fortune that has arrived. It is one of the best symbols of good luck.

The peach is also known as the "fairy fruit" and is thought to have originated in China. It is an emblem of marriage and a symbol of spring, longevity and immortality. The peach tree of the Gods was said to blossom once every 3000 years and the fruit of eternal life took another 3000 years to ripen.
