This is a very neat, old shell art box. This form of folk art was done a lot during the Victorian Era. The box looks to be made of a cigar box, or some other kind of thin wooden box. It has different shells and art glass pieces covering it on the outside. Inside it is lined in dark red wall paper and has a picture pasted inside that is peeling up. There are some shells missing, mostly on the edges (see photos). The box measures approximately 4 inches tall and 6 by 8 inches wide.
