What a lovely piece of California pottery! This serving dish is dated 1957, measures 16 1/4" by 7"; is in excellent vintage condition and has so much character it's bound to start conversations. Miramar Pottery began making pottery items in 1952 and is known for classic lamps, vases, and planters in the style now commonly called 'Retro'. Here we have an almond shaped dish in dusty rose pink; design is offset depth, shallower at one end, and perched in one rounded corner are crafted fruits with pale gray glaze; an orange, pear, apple and banana. Things to note here are that the glaze has one area where it was so heavy that it actually dripped on the inside and outside of the piece. Also there are some pocs on the bottom commonly seen in pottery from this era and the banana has a small, clay piece that was glazed over. There is a tiny chip on one edge and a rough spot where the glaze was so thin at the edge the clay can be felt. Piece is clearly marked on the bottom: Miramar of Calif.; trademark 1957; #743.
