We are pleased to offer for sale this Victorian ladies misers/coin purse that dates back to the late 1800's .Miser's purses are known by different names: Misers, ring or string purses. They originated in the late eighteenth century and were popular into the early 1900's. With all miser's purses, the object was to keep the contents secure. This piece is in very good condition and is black crocheted with silver metal beading for design and used for the tassels at each end. The two rings at the top are secure and intact. When laid out straight, the piece measures 12 inches. The piece comes from a SMOKE FREE home and is a wonderful example of a ladies accessory from days long gone by.
