This item was purchased from a family in Scotland that had a number of artifacts sent home to the family that were made during the French and Indian war in the 1760's. One item for instance, was a birch bark canoe filled with similar figures like the one I managed to purchase who were equipped with weapons of war and paddles. This figure, which I was allowed to purchase is a similar but much larger standing figure of an armless Iroquois warrior with earrings and Stroud cloth leggings. Standing over 16" tall, this carving shows its age but is still intact, except for the repair of the warriors gorget which had its original worn vegetable twine string replaced. The only other issue is that the Stroud cloth is extremely faded from sunlight exposure on one side.
