J.H. Bufford's sons Boston Antique Oil Chromo 1877
This is a stunning vintage oil chromo made by J.H. Bufford's sons Boston, from a painting by H. Schroff in a very ornate wood frame.
In the bottom front, it is written: painting by H Schroff, Enrd to Act of Congress in the year 1877 by Rev Henry Morgan , in the Office of the Librarian of the Congress at Washington . The title of this unique chromo is The Twelve Temptations ;Daniel in the lion's den , Key to lecture by Rev. Henry Morgan. As you can see on the photos, the back of the Chromo is fully detailed for the name and description of each lion . On the back also, The Chromo was designed by Mr. Morgan. It is a splendid as an Allegory and work of Art, but it can convey but a faint idea of the thrilling Passions, Dialogues and Aphorisms of the Lecture.( This is all printed directly on the back of the chromo)
It is in wonderful condition , under glass. The size of the frame is 28 in by 23.5 , the image size is 19.75 in by 15.75 in. The beautiful wood frame with very minor flaw, weights 11 lbs.
