What a find. The bracelet and its 22 charms are Sterling.
There are two sterling sweetheart charms, one which says “God Bless America.
Two charms associated with flying: an airplane with an inset of turquoise and a skull and bones,
There are charms associated with the West: an intricate Saddle, Cowboy boots, Cowboy hat, a pouch with the word “GOLD”, a cow bell
and charms associated with Native American and Southwest themes: papoose, standing Native American chief, Native American “ Indian head coin”, bowl, jug, drum, sandal, antelope with green turquoise stone, thunderbird with green turquoise stone, rabbit, tortoise
There is also an elephant charm. Don’t know how that one fits in, but that’s the beauty of charm bracelets. They were lovingly created by their owners and reflect interests of the owner. This is an unique and interesting bracelet and a perfect gift for someone who appreciates the culture of the Southwest.
I believe this dates to 1940s – 1950s, especially with some of the military and sweetheart charms.
The chain bracelet is unmarked, but acid tests as sterling. Some of the charms are marked sterling and the rest appear to be sterling, although it's possible that a couple could be slightly lower grade silver. If there is a particular charm that you have a question about, please let me know.
Weight: 59.5 grams sterling; hook clasp Size: ~ 7.5 inches long
Condition: These charms have a darkened patina which is obvious from the photos. They have been lightly cleaned, but I like to keep the silver patina intact to attest to their vintage age. I am very cautious about cleaning them too much. Their beauty is in the darkened silver.. Of course, a new owner can brighten them even more if they wish. Very easy to do. There is wear to a bracelet this old, and the turquoise piece on the airplane is cracked. It was obviously worn by its original owner, but the overall look to this fun bracelet is very good.
