C. 1955-1965, Each of the 4 slightly arch plaques or links of this enamel Cloisonné bracelet has eight edged “fingers” of the muted tones so popular in mid-century design: Copper, orange, turquoise and blue against a brown earth tone background. Unsigned, but attributed to Perli with the distinctive black counter enameled back. Push in clasp.
I adore these bracelets and collect them myself. It’s the smooth feel of the matte enamel that draws me to them, and the abstract modern designs. And the colors although muted, have a luminous appearance. So modern, so German minimalist with a subject matter so different than the 1950s glitter jewelry which proceeded these modern geometric designs.
More information on this type of jewelry can be found on p. 195 of “Amazing Gems” by Deanna Farneti Cera. She describes the metal and clasp as gold-plated tombac, and Perli Industries as located in Schwabisch Gmund Germany.
