A very interesting pair of dangle earrings that do not look like the typical Georgian or Edwardian riveted cut steel earrings.

Now this is my opinion, but the style to me looks Arts and Crafts and my best educated guess would be to date these earrings, c.1890-1920. The three sections that have the faceted cut steel brads are riveted in. A black enamel covers the back of the earrings (last photo). Each earring has two cut steel faceted beads that dangle at the bottom with a dangling “pendant” piece in between that has a larger cut steel polished brad. The top part of each earring has six small polished faceted steel brads, which are riveted together on the metal backing

The curved shape and the use of the curved branches with simplified leaves evoke Arts and Crafts stylistic themes. The lovely shape of the earrings is quite flattering.

Most cut steel jewelry was made in England. The process of hand cutting and polishing each steel bead, then riveting it onto a back piece was extremely laborious and time-consuming. Care should be taken to keep them dry, as cut steel jewelry is susceptible to rust., which is why the jewelry is more difficult to find today.
