Very fun pair of mid century mod dangle earrings with a silver-tone orbit design that looks like it has atomic particles circling a galalith nucleus. I think the creator of these earrings took as their inspiration the “Rutherford Nuclear Planetary Model” depicting an atom with electrons in an orbit circling the nucleus.
The galalith “nucleus” is a nugget shape, dangling freely within the silver-tone orbit rings. The color is best described as butterscotch. The top galalith piece on each earring clasp is a curved half circle.
Galalith was a plastic material used heavily during the 1930-1950s in France and Germany instead of bakelite which was more popular in the United States. Judging from the earring back, my best educated guess is that these are French in origin.
