A wonderful late 1800s lapel or stick pin which displays the Victorian love for snake images. The solid gold pin has a very realistic looking coiled snake at the top. Its body is hand chased with diamond shaped scales. The head is collet set with an old 2mm mine diamond. One side of the head has an eye and nostrils.
It is not marked but has been tested to be 14k gold. Overall length is 3" (7.6 cm) and the weight is 3.44 grams. The snake measures 7/16" (11 mm) across, 1/2" (13 mm) if the tail is included and it is 1/2" (13 mm) high. The pin is strong and the snake well attached.
