An exquisite little dresser box or casket inside and out. Raised on three feet, the elegant oval box of heavy gauge silver has a top with translucent white enamel through which the intricate engine turned pattern shows. A striking thistle with green foliage hand painted under glaze graces the center.
When the hinged lid is raised, the delightful creamy satin-lined interior is shown with pleated satin around the the interior topped by braiding and a velvet edging. A very special piece of jewelry or treasure would be housed here.
The British hallmarks on the lid and bottom of the box are those of Deakin & Francis, Birmingham, England. Also the Sterling lion passant and the mark for 1913.
The box is 2 1/2" by 1 3/4" by 1 3/4" high.It weighs 57.5 grams. Condition is excellent throughout. The lid opens and closes smoothly.
