In the late 1800s, Gorham produced a series of 3-piece youth sets for every sign of the zodiac. This surviving fork is patented 1894 and was made for the retail store Montgomery Bros. Highly decorative, the handle is chased with a scorpion and Art Nouveau patterns. The word OCTOBER is in low relief along the handle and a bouquet of cosmos (the flower of the month of October) spills out onto the "bowl" of the fork.
The fork measures 5 3/4" long and weighs 32.2 grams. There are no monograms. There are some tiny teeth marks on the tines- I guess Scorpios are prone to biting- but nothing very noticeable.
