Offered for sale is an 1890-95 circa Mount Washington Burmese vase in gourd form with a bulbous neck. The shaded pink to yellow glass was first produced at the Mount Washington Glass Company of New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 1885. The glass contains uranium oxide giving it a yellow cast when heated with a tincture of gold to give it a unique shading to pink. The glass was immediately popular in both America and England where it was presented to Queen Victoria. It can also often be found with decorative enameling.
The vase is in excellent condition with a slight unevenness to the rim, but not chips.
Size: 8” Height.
