Offered for sale is a small porcelain perfume bottle made by Jacob Petit, circa 1850-60. The bottle has a black ground, the sides fitted with floral encrustation alternating with raised gilt scrolls. The stoppered top ends in a floral crest.
Jacob Petit, once a painter at Sevres, opened his own porcelain decorating shop in Fontainbleau in 1830 and proceeded to make highly decorative ornamental wares often encrusted with flowers in the Rocaille style.
The bottle is in excellent age-related condition with a few minor chips to the flower petals, as to be expected.
Size: 4 ½” Height.
