Offered for sale is a late 19th century Augustus Rex (Meissen) style quatrefoil-shaped bowl made by Helena Wolfsohn. The bowl is decorated in alternating panels of hand painted pastoral scenes and floral bouquets on a yellow ground highlighted in gilt.
Helena Wolfsohn’s factory decorated pieces in the 18th century Meissen style sometimes using their mark. Although her work was very well done, Meissen eventually sued her to cease use of their mark. Her pieces are highly collectible and many times mistaken for authentic Meissen pieces.
The bowl is in excellent condition.
