Presented for sale is an early 19th century 7-piece dessert set in pink ground hand painted by an artist in fine detail with named floral center vignettes. The set is after the work of Coalport and possibly painted by one of their artists on Coalport blanks. The vignettes are finely detailed and beautifully executed. The inner border is shaped with crowns and is very unusual. The rim is scalloped and painted with a continuing border.
The compote is raised on a shallow pedestal and exhibits a pierced handle at one end. The set is in excellent condition with the following noted: several of the plates have some gilt wear to the border framing the vignettes, not very noticeable; there is a tight hairline to the foot of the pedestal on the compote, and a separate crack in the dish.
The set would be magnificent for display in a cabinet.
Size of 5 plates: 9” Diameter
Size of compote: 10” Length; 2” Height.
