Offered for sale is a splendid pair of square 1810 Coalport porcelain hand-painted serving dishes in a rare Thumb and Finger Imari pattern influenced by Asian styles. The dishes are beautifully decorated with light green leaves trailing orange red flowers and cobalt bordering stepped up in gilt. The dishes were produced during the John Rose period.
The dishes are in excellent condition, with one having a small amount of chipping to the foot on the back. These amazing pieces are a true testament to the genius of John Rose and the earlier Coalport wares. The prototypes created at Coalport during the late 18th and early 19th centuries have been copied in different variations by all major British tableware manufacturers.
