Offered for sale is a unique Meiji period late 19th century Japanese Imari charger with vivid coloration. The overall shape and the scallop-fluted panels suggest a chrysanthemum, a popular flower in Japanese culture. The charger contains brocaded sections with overlapping roundels, centering star form vases surrounded by petals. The back is beautifully hand painted with vines and pomegranates.
The charger is in excellent condition with minor enamel loss to the rim.
