Presenting for sale a beautiful pair of circa 1815 hand painted Coalport dessert dishes in square form decorated in one of their fabulous Imari patterns. The center features a cobalt vase with peony flowers and fauna surrounded by a border of flora and animals contrasting with abstracts. The entire painted surface is formalized with gilt highlights and bordering.
Coalport and Worcester both produced incredible pieces copying the styles of China and Japan while making them essentially English. Their popularity has never waned and they are just as sought after today as 200 years ago.
Both dishes are in excellent condition with small age related amounts of gilt wear especially to the edges but still magnificent for display.
Size: 8 ½” Square.
