Offered for sale is a pair of magnificent mahogany English curule side chairs in the style of the French Empire, circa late 19th century. The chairs are heavily decorated in finely made bronze mounts by E. H. Kahn & Co., London.
The rounded crest rail, stiles, and seat aprons feature foliate and rosette mounts. The chairs are supported on monopod legs superbly affixed with bronzed Gryphons ending in animal paw feet. These chairs would be exceptional placed on either side of a desk, credenza, or commode.
They are in excellent condition and the bronze mounts are of the highest quality casting. The seats and backs are covered in a yellow cream-colored Scalamandre fabric, which is in perfect condition and highly complements the dark mahogany woods and bronze doré mounts.
