Presented for sale is a beautiful French late 19th to early 20th century Sevres style charger. The dish is decorated in a Puce ground hand painted with floral vignettes enhanced in gilt borders. A romantic Boucher style pastoral encompasses the center. The scene is hand painted and finely executed.
The charger is in excellent condition and marked on the back with a spurious Sevres 18th century mark. This charger was probably decorated by one of the 19th century Paris decorating shops that used Sevres blanks and decorated them by hand in the Sevres style. These shops flourished in and around Paris during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The workmanship was often of very high quality. There is a small amount of gilt and enamel wear to the inner rim of the plate, but it is still outstanding in its presentation, and the porcelain is a very fine hard paste white body.
Size: 13” Diameter.
