Offered for sale is a stunning pair of 19th century Venetian Rococo polychrome and giltwood carved consoles. The serpentine shaped tops feature an acanthus carved frieze, which is supported by asymmetrically carved legs that curve inward and meet at the base. The tables are polychromed in a dark celery green finish stepped up with gold leaf.
The consoles are in very good original condition and attach to a wall via metal brackets. They are ultimately supported also at the base by the floor. Each piece is finished with beveled Italian marble cover that conforms to the shape of the top, which is a later addition designed and custom-cut to the exact shape. They have a nicely aged patina and would be stunning flanking a door in an entrance hall topped with mirrors.
Size: 31 ½” Height by 26 ½” Width by 12” Depth (center).
