Presented for sale is a well-done early 20th century winter landscape by Ohio artist, Paul Bettinger (1878 – 1947). The oil on canvas depicts a wintry forest with snow-covered ground on either side of a meandering stream. It is noteworthy to examine how successfully the artist showcases the reflection of the trees in the stream.
Paul Bettinger was a mostly self-taught artist who painted in his studio from memory scenes from his childhood on the farm. He was not an artist by trade but painting was his true love, and he had a long history of art exhibitions. HIs work can be seen in museums and private collections.
The painting is in excellent condition and housed in a new frame that complements both the colors and theme.
