Presented for sale is a magnificent French Louis XVI style early 19th century four-branch candelabrum of silvered bronze, with removable top. The chased detail is superb with draped lion head panels on the upright.
This candelabrum once belonged to Ferdinand de Lesseps (1805 – 1894) the French diplomat and developer of the Suez Canal from a direct provenance by his granddaughter. In 1884, at an official banquet in honor of the Franco-American Union, he formally presented the Statue of Liberty to the United States.
The candelabrum is in excellent condition; no marks visible.
Size: 18” Height; 10” Width.
