Presented for sale is an exquisite German porcelain Pot de creme or chocolate cup and saucer decorated by Georg Heufel & Co. in hand painted panels of flowers and raised giltwork. The cup is supported on animal paw feet with twisted snake handles decorated in gilt. The cover is domed with a finial. The workmanship is outstanding and the porcelain trio is in all likelihood a Meissen blank.
Georg Heufel & Co. was a Dresden decorating shop founded by its namesake around 1891. He decorated porcelain blanks in the style of Royal Vienna and Meissen. Extremely talented in both decoration and repair, he immigrated to the United States in 1901 where he worked for Lenox Inc.
The cup and cover are in excellent condition; there is a tight hairline running through the center of the stand.
