Offered for sale is a mid 19th century hand painted English Minton porcelain dessert. The set consists of 12 luncheon or dessert plates, 2 low comportes, 2 raised comportes, and 2 sauce tureens with covers. The set is decorated with a pierced cobalt edge highlighted in matte gilt fleur de lis surrounding a purely white center, each piece hand painted with a different botanical. The plates and serving pieces are like works of art.
The painted detail is outstanding and the ensemble presents a dazzling display. It is rare to find a set complete with the matching serving pieces. Take note of the magnificent scrolled stands that raise two of the comportes and 2 of the tureens.
Most of the pieces are in excellent condition, but a few of the pieces have been restored as noted below:
12 Dessert Plates: 9 1/8” Diameter. All of the plates are in excellent condition with no visible flaws or enamel loss
2 Raised Comportes on Stands: 9 ¼” Diameter by 5 1/8” Height. Both of the comportes are in excellent condition with no visible flaws or enamel loss.
2 Low Comportes on Pedestals: 9 1/8” Diameter by 2 ½” Height. Both comportes have been broken on one side and professionally restored.
2 Sauce Tureens With Covers: 7” Height by 6 ½” Diameter. One sauce tureen is in excellent condition with no flaws. One sauce tureen has been restored and should not be used to hold liquid, however it is still beautiful for display.
