Presented for sale is a stunning 19th century French Haviland Limoges porcelain punch bowl on a small raised foot. The bowl is hand-painted inside and out, exhibiting exceptional artistry on a softly shaded background. Large clusters of multi-colored grapes with vines and leaves are displayed in glorious detail. The blended colors are so finely executed on this piece that it stands out among others in comparison where the colors might be construed as too bold or garish.
The bowl is raised on a plateau-like base with scalloped footing beautifully highlighted in gilt with finely drawn penwork. The scalloped edges of the bowl are also highlighted in similar gilt banding.
The bowl is in excellent condition with very little wear. There are a few indistinct scratches to the interior but this bowl is superior for display on a table or sideboard. It’s magnificent from all angles and certainly one of the most beautiful Limoges pieces we’ve found.
Size: 7” Height by 14 ½” Diameter.
