Presented for sale is a late 18th century Northern Italian two-drawer commode on canted legs. The top is inlaid and overhangs two long drawers. The drawers are decorated with geometric panels in walnut and fruit woods contrasting with an ebonized framework.
The sides are paneled in the same geometric and floral inlay design, and the commode is raised on canted tapering legs terminating in bulbous feet. The legs are connected with an x-crossed stretcher with a middle finial.
The commode is in very good condition with age-appropriate wear to the finish and inlays and minor wood shrinkage cracks to the sides. The top drawer retains its original lock and key; the lower drawer has no locking mechanism.
Size: 53” Width by 23” Depth by 34” Height.
